Is the Brutal Prince book spicy? ›

Overall, it's a pretty good read if you're looking for a quick spicy romance. I'm curious to read more about Aida'a brothers and Callum's sisters in the next book!

Brutal Birthright delivered... like seriously, this book is hot, spicy, full of twists and turns, it has witches, fairies, shifters and vampires, otherwordly magic and... did I say spice? Because holy gods and goddesses, there is spice.

If you love mafia romances with strong tension, enemies-to-lovers, and arranged marriages and are looking for an easy, quick read, I recommend reading “Brutal Prince.” But, if you're not into cheesy dialogue and would instead read a more detailed and stronger-written story, maybe hold off on this one for now.

This is the last book in the Brutal Birthright serious. Enjoyed reading all the books and they can be read as standalone. However I would suggest reading them in order as all the characters appear in all the books.

nina zenik 97 This book is categorized as YA and it's more on the romantic side of the genre. 13-16 year olds can definitely read it, but more mature 11 year-olds and adults can enjoy it too. There's a bit more intimate romance in the later books, but not much, and for the most part, this is readable for all ages.

In Cruel Prince Jude's older sister (Vivi) is bi and in a relationship with a mortal girl named Heather, but that's the only LGBT rep. There's nothing hom*ophobic in it or anything, but unfortunately that is the only canon LGBT rep so far :\ Satellite by Nick Lake (poc rep and lgbt rep (and neurodiversity rep!))

It was definitely a dark romance, filled with brutality, murder, kidnapping, and sexual assault. The main characters hated each other with a deep passion – emphasis on the passion- but somehow their relationship worked, and they banded together into an impressive team.

The word people constantly use to describe this book is “spicy”. Now, if we're measuring by the amount of sexual content, sure, it's level 10 because there are a lot of sex scenes.

Definitely read the trigger warnings. But I DEVOURED this book. A lot funnier than I expected it to be, and the slow burn had me giddy by the end.

Is there an age gap in Brutal Prince? ›

I did think the age-gap between Aida and Callum was a bit extreme and I don't think it would have detracted from the story had that gap been slightly smaller. That said, it is what it is and it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a fun and silly melodrama.

Isa LMAOOOOO, not in the first book just a steamy kiss, but in the last two there a few fade to black scenes and stuff like that. But like if your looking for ultra spicy and descriptive stuff your in the wrong place lol. This book is mainly about fae politics with a splash of amazing romance.

The Cruel Prince starts out with some extreme distain between Jude and Cardan, but after a shared goal forces them to spend a lot more time together… tensions of a different variety start to form between the two. Aside from some dangerously passionate kissing, I'll say the first book might be a little tame.

This is one book that lives up to the hype. Appropriate for readers ages 13+, fans of The Cruel Prince would be wise to look into the rest of Black's literary catalogue, as the worlds of her novels have finely tuned connections.
