Y/N: The game's accurate, you watched me win the last qualifying round! They're a different breed of athlete, yes, that's why they're going to train me! I mean, I hope at a racing academy they build me from the ground up. I'm expecting the physical demand!

Dad: I just don't like it...

Mom: Their Acura facility is only in Eastside, that's the open area around the airport! That's where it is, right?

Y/N: Yeah, it's at their motorsport facility in Eastside, and guess what... If I can't take it, if I can't handle it, if I get pushed around too much, or if I get scared...

Mom: We can pull him out of it, and honey, you can tell him that you told him so!

Y/N: Exactly.

Dad puts his coffee down and the paper, taking time to sigh and rub his face with his hands. He takes a good five or so minutes to make a final decision.

Dad: I know if I say no, you'll still disregard it and do it anyway... but... boy, you've showed me promise throughout the workouts. I've seen the dedication in your eyes as a grown man. You sure you want to go down this path?

Y/N: I do.

Dad: I can't stop you... but know that I'll be worried sick about ya.

Mom: We both will...

Y/N: Noted, dually noted.

TIMESKIP!

I get up at my usual time and do a quick little workout. After that, I pack up some of my trinkets along with some of my clothes for the academy. I'm guessing all I'll need is just enough for a week, then wash them on the weekends. Toiletries, a pillow, chargers, and that's probably all I'll need. I pack a backpack of a couple things too, and then that's me packed.

My parents are already willing to take me to their facility, and I'm one of the really lucky ones. Wait, never mind, according to the email in my phone, I'm getting a ride from my given address in a week's time. Well f*ck, why did I pack now?! At least I'm prepared...

I open up Instagram to doom scroll for a bit and I get haunted by Ahri's DM when I get a meme sent to me from Kayn. I close her DM, flat out, just delete the DM, I don't need to see that anymore, I'm moving on as we speak.

I debate taking my racing wheel with me, but then I realized... ehhh... I don't know, that might be a bit much. I'll use whatever setup they have there.

Did I ever talk about my racing wheel? Well, it's a clone of the Red Bull's paddle pattern on their F1 cars. Shifting paddles up top, clutch paddles on the bottom that do the same thing, engage the clutch. Some race cars still use a clutch, and even when they are automatic or hydraulic, I like to play with clutch on with my games. Although, those paddles shouldn't work for switching gears, just for pitting and starting off.

However, in game, even in cars with no clutch or clutch pedals designed for only starting, it still makes me shift, it's actually called a difficulty tweak. Clutch in, put it in first gear, slowly move clutch out as you speed off. Clutch in, second, clutch out, gas it, and it all continues on from there. This is the way, there's no other way, you get the ultimate control over your car when you drive manually, especially with a clutch.

With this training, I could actually race a stock car, vintage racer, or a production racer, but instead this allows me to drive the family CX-3 like an absolute asshole...

However, I can already tell I'm going to have an aneurism when I sit inside the NSX for the first time and see there's the clutch lever that actually works like it's supposed to. In the NSX... sorry for the long... nerd emoji stuff...

But anyway, in the NSX GT3 Evo, you have to hold the clutch lever, flip into first gear, and build the revs, AKA, hold the gas pedal all the way up to the red line, then dump the clutch, AKA, take your finger off the wheel, and you're gone. The launch control and everything else will assist me through that entire process. Now, you could adjust that once you get a feel for the car, as well as not burning your engine at the start, but that's for another day... I haven't even gotten there yet...

And you read it right earlier, I purposefully handicap myself and don't play on just manual mode, I play manual with clutch no matter what car I drive. Can't wait for the learning curve when I get there though, at least the controls I think will be easier than I anticipate.

Dad: Remember what I said.

Y/N: I got it guys.

I finish hugging my parents, then dap up my brother into a quick hug.

Ezzy: You gonna be able to play games there?

Y/N: Probably not, but I promise when I get back, if I get back, we'll game out.

Ezzy: Word...

I pick up my bag and throw my backpack on, leaving the house and heading to the van that came to pick me up. It's a blacked out, luxurious version of a Honda Odyssey, now this is something that the public will never get a chance to see... wow.

Driver: Grab a seat, kid, we're heading to the Acura Motorsport facility in Eastside!

Y/N: Yep, sounds good, let me get my bag in here...

I sit in the back of the van and shut the door, and wasting no time at all, he puts it in reverse, taking us out of the driveway, and then we were off soon after.

Once again, finally, F-Academy... here I come...
